India is the first country in the world to make corporate social responsibility (CSR) mandatory, following an amendment to The Company Act, 2013 in April 2014. Businesses can invest their profits in areas such as education, poverty, gender equality, and hunger. Although Bisman does not come in the ambit of the provision, it carries out various CSR projects, most of which are related to environmental sustainability and ecological balance and conservation of natural resources. Some of the ongoing CSR activities are;
Bisman collaborates with a NGO educating the underprivileged children. Also, Bisman regularly conducts audio visual presentations and interactions amongst the school children in various schools on vital issues like energy/water conservation, waste reduction/recycling, sanitation habits and good citizens’ responsibilities. These programs are conducted round the year and also guide the children for various avenues to pursue after completion of schooling. We pool resource persons from various disciplines to share their experiences to the younger generation.
